What is the preferred format for my art/logo file? How do I submit it?

Art/logo files should be high resolution. The following formats are accepted: JPG, PDF, and AI. Please upload the file when submitting a quote request or email it to  

A digitizing fee is not charged for most customizations, including patches. Direct embroidery orders will incur a one-time setup fee based upon the number of stitches in the logo. The digitizing fee for a standard-sized logo is $45. 

SkyeCap offers top-notch design services; prices depend upon the complexity of the design work as well as the number of revisions required before approval. Please request a logo design estimate from your account manager.

Can I edit my logo for future orders?

Usually, yes. For most customizations, including patches, logo edits are free of charge. Edits to logos for direct embroidery may incur an edit charge. Please ask your account manager for an estimate.

Can I add text to my hats in addition to my design? Is there a setup fee for this?

Standard text can be added to hats without a setup fee. Typically text is embroidered on the back or side of hats or around a direct-embroidery logo. 

When will I receive an art proof? What is the process for approving it?

Art proofs will be sent within two business days (oftentimes sooner). Please review your proof carefully for layout, size, and spelling (if text has been added). Once you have signed the proof, your order will go into production. 

Pre-production proofs will be emailed according to this schedule:

- Embroidered patches: 1-2 business days

- Chenille patches: 3 business days

- Tackle twill: 2-3 business days

- Specialty patches: 4-6 business days 

Another company has embroidered my logo before or created patches with it. Can you re-create it?

Yes! If you have an existing logo file or pre-production proof from this company, please email it to your account manager. If you have a physical sample only, this can be shipped to SkyeCap for the logo to be re-created. The sample will be returned with your order. 

Can I receive a physical pre-production sample?

You will automatically receive an emailed proof of your new patch or direct embroidery logo. A physical pre-production sample is available, but please note that (a) this will delay order production by up to two weeks and (b) changes to the art file once the digital proof has been approved will incur an additional fee. 

Once I have an approved logo on file with you, can I use it for other patch styles or direct embroidery?

Yes. For most patch styles, a setup fee will not apply. For direct embroidery, a one-time digitizing fee will apply. 

Can I change patch styles or hat styles once my order has been placed? Can I change the order quantity?

If production hasn’t started, the patch style can be changed, but this will likely extend production time. If production has started, the patch style cannot be changed. 

If the hats haven’t gone into production yet, hat styles and quantities can be changed. A restocking fee may apply.  

Can I order patches in multiple colors?

Yes, patches - and direct-embroidered logos - can be ordered with different colors in the same order. This should be communicated with your account manager at the time the order is placed. 

My new logo or design has been approved and/or my logo has been digitized for direct embroidery. Who owns these final logo files?

Once all associated fees have been paid (design work for a new logo or the digitizing fee for direct-embroidery logos), you retain ownership of the logo file. 

What is your policy about re-creating or working with copyrighted/trademarked material?

SkyeCap will not knowingly reproduce a logo or design in violation of copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property laws. We will put forth our best efforts to reject orders that incorporate the logos or designs of another party without that party’s permission. Please do not place such orders on our site. If an order is produced that infringes on any of the above laws and SkyeCap is not aware that the order is in violation, the person or entity that placed the order assumes all responsibility for the offense. 

Can you match thread colors to PMS colors? What thread colors are available?

SkyeCap works primarily with Isacord and Madeira threads for direct embroidery. Your account manager can guide the thread selection process, but these two charts are also helpful for color matching:

We have many thread colors in stock, which are sufficient for most orders. If you prefer a direct match, we can order the thread colors of your choice for an additional fee.

What are SkyeCap’s payment terms? 

SkyeCap accepts all major credit cards and company checks, with credit approval. All orders must be paid in full before production. Payment terms are available to qualifying organizations following a credit application. 

Do you accept rush orders? 

Usually, yes! All efforts will be made to meet your in-hands date. Your account manager can recommend hat styles and decoration techniques that have the fastest production times. And art proofs must be approved quickly to avoid delays. 

How much does shipping cost? When can I expect my order once it has shipped? 

Standard shipping is free. For most zip codes, orders will be received within 2-5 business days of the shipping date. Once an order is in transit, any delays from the shipping carrier are out of our control. Expedited shipping is available for an additional fee.

What is your return policy? 

Each order is custom produced and cannot be resold. As such, we cannot accept returns or exchanges unless there is a material defect in the hats or the decoration is not what was approved in your pre-production proof. All claims must be initiated within ten business days of order receipt. 

What are your production times? How quickly will my order be produced? 

This depends on the chosen customization style. If you have a rush order, please work with your account manager to determine the best hat style and decoration technique. Generally speaking, the following production times apply: 

Direct embroidery: 6-8 business days from final proof approval

Embroidered and woven patches: 3-4 weeks from final proof approval

PVC patches: 5-6 weeks from final proof approval 

My organization is tax-exempt. How do I submit verification? 

Please email your tax-exempt certificate to This must be submitted to avoid sales tax collection. 

My organization is a non-profit and/or I am ordering hats for a charity event. Do you offer discounts?

I don’t see the hat I’m looking for on your website? Do you have other choices? 

SkyeCap partners with so many amazing hat companies that we can’t possibly include all available hats on our website. Please work directly with your account manager to find exactly what you have in mind. 

Can I supply my own hats? 

At this time, we cannot accept customer-supplied hats. 

How should I care for my hats? 

Hats, threads, and patches (especially sewn-on patches) will last for many years. We see our clients in great-looking hats from 20-plus years ago! Please note that exposure to sun, perspiration, and salt water will cause fading over time. 

Unconstructed/”floppy” hats 

These hats conform to your head when worn and then “flop” when taken off your head. These hats are usually lighter-weight and available in many materials & colors.

Constructed hats 

These are most commonly seen in baseball - from youth teams to MLB - although very popular on and off the field. The crown is supported and its shape doesn’t change. These hats sit higher on your head. They are also available in many materials & colors.
